Designed for age 18 months to 5 years, the Mini Glider is designed for safe, learning fun. The newly redesigned 2012 model has a seat that can be lowered to a minimum of 11 and raised to a maximum of 18. This means the bike can safely accommodate children with an inseam of 12 to 19. The handlebar can also be adjusted giving your balance bike rider plenty of room to grow. Also the Mini Glider Balance Bike has a unique foot peg system that allows kids to have a place to rest their feet while gliding. The peg is positioned close to where a pedal would be thus giving them additional training for eventually riding a traditional pedal bike. This peg can be locked into place with one simple to use, tool-free pin allowing the foot peg to be installed or removed in seconds. By removing the peg, this helps new riders to focus on mastering gliding. As your child develops balance and begins gliding, you can reinstall the peg and you child can then get accustomed to the natural foot position present on a traditional bicycle. Glide Bikes philosophy is its uncomfortable for kids to dangle their feet and they won't be able to ride for as long. It also helps save their shoes from getting scraped up.The Mini Glider Glide Bike also has brakes. This is not your typical pedal bike braking system. The brakes on the Mini Glider Bike are band brakes and stop in a very controlled manner not locking up. This braking system was originally used in 1902 on Star Cycles bicycles they have a proven track record. The Mini Glider braking system is in a contained housing with nothing for kids to get hung up on like caliper brakes mounted to the frame and exposed.
